colosseum

Having only ever been to Breuil-Cervinia in Italy before (a seasonal mountainous skiing destination on the border of Italy and Switzerland) Rome was pretty different to say the least. Arguably a city created in a time more civilised than our own, *cough* Donald *cough*, that was built on a good feeling from the sign of several birds, 7 hills and lots of stone and marble.

While we were there the temperature made a good effort of sticking to around 30˚C, except for the days when it hit 36˚C and we died. Yet aside from all the sweltering and cowering in shadows with coke lights, my mum and I managed to cover a lot of ground, so much so her ankles were swollen to unrecognisable proportions, and we were administering blister plasters like sun cream. The hilarity of the pain we endured aside, we had many fun adventures; looking for the colosseum and getting lost on our return; making gelato and pizza from scratch near Piazza Navona; trekking from one side of Rome to the other to get to the Vatican (we legit walked like 18 km that day); and discovering we were wig people, after we unknowingly sat down for dinner adjacent to a sex shop, drank a bottle of prosecco and laughed at the store attendant wrestling a half naked (and wig-wearing) female mannequin back inside.
I also got to meet up with some of my pals, who were in Rome for the afternoon one day before heading up to Fi's home in the north. Check my INSTA for more cool snaps and some of us together.

These shots are the first part of the collection, all taken using Lewis' 35mm Canon digital SLR camera. Lewis and his pals have gone travelling for 6 months, so in his absence I claimed his camera for my own selfish endeavours (he features in Paris if you're interested). I also took images at night with a disposable camera I got from Boots (single handedly promoting Boots every week on this blog) so I just need to polish that disposable off and we can update this post.

summer in paris UPDATED

menagerie du jardin des plantes

the marais

First batch of 35mm from my trip to paris in june. Should have uploaded these ages ago but I'm useless; need to set some kind of reminder to do this every sunday. Shot these on my Canon SLR, all using poundland film because as well as useless i am cheap. Paris in the summer was mental compared to the winter, I think we walked about 20km every day, drank by the river, cycled to père lachaise on vélos, drank absinthe in montemartre and watched the city at night from the steps of the sacré cœur, le tour eiffel brillait We ate stupidly good sushi, lebanese food, savoury crêpes and italian food in marché des enfants rouge – i had arancini, which is like risotto balls – delizioso.

UPDATE

charlie & lucy's apartment from ground level.

There wasn't as many images on the point and shoot as I originally imagined, didn't help that the boots machine did some more '2 halves of 2 different negatives on one print' thing. but otherwise, thats it for Paris this year, unless we go again in November or something.

I got the last of my pictures from Paris on the Canon T50 developed, leaving us with the final update to the paris series (and an update I forgot entirely about to be honest). These photos are from our final afternoon in paris before we got the eurostar home, we walked past the glass windows of the louvre, through the jardin des tuileries to the champs-élysées, stopping off at a funfair on the way. we look like something out of the end of grease, but less greasy.

get lost

Wanted to do a series, so went for a walk in the woods next to my house and found a bunch of buildings. Unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery at the end of the roll (which it has never done the whole time I have owned it) so the film wouldn't roll back and half of the pictures I had taken got fucked sprockets and ruined by light leak coz I opened the back, WHICH MAJORLY BUMMED ME OUT, however, the babes at boots sorted me out and developed the images for me for free. So, while this is not the entire collection, you'll just have to appreciate half.
All images taken on my 35mm Canon SLR.
